Under The Pier
This is a shot at one of my favorite beaches in Southern California, Huntington Beach. This was shot on a very nice summer day and the beach was pretty packed, everyone however was out catching the sun and not under the pier.

Bellagio Gardens Entrance
This is a shot of the gardens in the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It is always worth a stop by this area when you are out in Vegas. They change out the decorations and plants so often you pretty much see something new anytime you go.

Ferry Building From Above
This is a shot of the San Francisco Ferry Building. I have always wanted to get a nice shot of the building but the lights below make it hard to do that, after some exploring around I found this place. This is shot from the Hyatt across the street in their fire escape. As I was shooting this I surprised a worker there, he opened up the door to get some fresh air and he saw me with my tripod setup taking this shot, definitely not what he was expecting on his break.

San Francisco Muni PCC Car
This is a shot of one of San Francisco Muni's Historic PCC cars. Most of these were bought from Philidelphia & New Jersey & they were built in the 40's. Each of these streetcars were painted to be replica's of old city railways. This was is painted as the old Pacific Railways line from Los Angeles.

This is a shot of a sunset in Waikiki Beach, in Honolulu Hawaii. I had forgot about this image until I was going through some of my past work. I was out shooting some other areas on Waikiki Beach when I noticed this interesting sunset going on, and this boat was out sailing towards it. So I reset my shot and waited for the boat to move into the frame to grab this shot.

The Las Vegas Strip
This is a shot of the Las Vegas strip, shot from the top of the Eiffel Tower at the Paris Hotel and Casino. The Eiffel tower is nice that it provides camera cutouts in the fence, but they don't always provide the best angle, and you can't take a tripod up so you have to make do with what you can get.

Aria Casino Lobby
This is a shot of the Aria Hotel & Casino lobby. Coming into the Aria after a night of taking some photos on the strip the lobby really caught my eye. I don't know if its normally decorated this way or I just never really paid attention, but on this paticular occasion it really caught my eye.

Victoria Beach, Laguna Beach Sunset
This is a shot of Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach CA. I almost didn't get this shot first parking was bad on this paticular day and when we did find something it was a pretty far walk on Highway 1.
Then when we did get here there was a lot of portrait sessions going on so I didn't get to this spot until the sun had dropped into the top of the clouds. It appeared like the sun was not going to come out the bottom so I was getting ready to pack up and just as I was pulling the camera off the tripod the sun reappeared under the clouds and I was able to get the shot.

Planet Hollywood Strip View
This is a shot of the Las Vegas Strip, shot from the bridge between Planet Hollywood & City Center. Las Vegas has so many interesting places to shoot, especially on the strip at night. The later you get into the night as well the less people are out on the strip, so you have good chances of getting no people in the shot.

Calico Hotel
This is a shot of the Calico Hotel in the Calico Ghost Town.
I have always wanted to stop at Calico Ghost Town on my many road trips to Las Vegas but I never did, until my most recent trip. What a time to go to the temperature outside was 106 F and no AC in any of these buildings. I wanted to get the old time feel for this picture so I added some textures on top of the photo.

Bellagio Water Show
This shot was taken on the top of the Eiffel Tower. I almost didnt get this shot.
Two of our three nights in Vegas were booked with shows so the one day I had planned to shot from here since we had no shows, it was closed for most of the night for a private event. I ended up coming up here before our last show to shoot, luckily the show runs every 15 minutes so I had a few shots at it before we had to leave. Our show was right across the street at the Bellagio as well so it all worked out in the end.

Caesars Palace Fountains
This is a shot of the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas Nevada. The statue is a replica of the Winged Victory of Samothrace.
This show was a little tough to get as it's pretty popular to get photos of, and people tend to walk in other peoples frames to pose. I was able to get on the shots though in between all of this.

Santa Cruz Natural Bridges
This is a shot of the Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz California. I was hoping for a better sunset but all the great colors were behind the shot, still the colors that were here were nice.
This is a naturally formed rock, there used to be three arches but the ocean reclaimed those, the one that remains was the middle of the three.

Welcome To Pike's Place
This is a shot of the entrance to Pike's Place in Seattle Washington.
I almost gave up on this shot, people kept walking into the frame, and not in area's that would add to the photo, they started leaving and then another group came and sat on the pig for the longest time. I had been waiting for about an hour for everyone to clear out and I was about 5 minutes from leaving, finally just as I was ready to pack it up and try another night I got an opening for a little while. It was a good thing too, the rest of the trip the far, in the farmers market sign was burned out.

The lobby is very nicely done, themed very well with portraits and busts of President Lincoln, it really sets the tone for seeing the show.

Disney Storytellers Statue
This is a shot of the Disney Storytellers Statue at the Disneyland California Adventure Park.
I would have liked to try different angles or even shooting closer to the statue rather then the wide angle I have here. But just as I was getting to my last shots here I felt security right over my shoulder and after the shots were finished up I was asked to leave the park. I do like the shot I got but it would have been interesting to try other setups, I guess I will have to try the next time I am in the park.
The statue is supposed to be when Walt Disney first arrived to Hollywood in the 1920's so I thought converting it to black and white would fit the mood.

The Great Wheel
This is a shot of the Seattle Great Wheel, this is the tallest observation wheel in the west coast at 175 feet.
This is really a nice ride to take, you get a full three spins on the wheel and you get a really nice view of the city at the peak, and the wheel extends out over the water so that is neat s well. I always like the effect long exposures have on photos like this, making a slow turning wheel appear as if it is spinning out of control.

Seattle From Kerry Park
This is a shot o the Seattle skyline shot from Kerry Park, it ended up being quite the interesting night.
For starters we caught a cab to the park, let the driver know we wanted to go to Kerry Park, which is a pretty famous place to visit, it was in our hotel room places to see, lots of pictures feature this view so I was not asking to go to some hard to find place. I tell the cabbie Kerry Park and his reaction, direct me. Well I had to address up on my phone so I was able to give it to him so he could put it in his GPS.
Once we were here and I was setting up for the shot, a woman in her 20s wanted me to take a picture of her with the skyline behind her, I thought sure no problem. Well she wanted to get on top of an electric box, so I thought ok. Then she wanted a photo shot of her jumping in the air on this box, well this box is on hill that has a pretty good slant on it so if she were to fall off while jumping things would not end well. I told her it was not a good idea but she insisted. I had problems getting her camera to go off at the right time so she had to jump a few times and sure enough she almost fell off the box, luckily she didn't and she did not want to try anymore after that.
Anyways if you happen to be in Seattle make sure you check out the park, all the photos and everything you get a good sense of what it's like but actually being there seeing the view is really nice.

Seattle 5th Avenue Theatre
This is a shot of the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. This theatre was near my hotel and it kept catching my eye every time I walked by so I decided to get a shot, it looks like a pretty nice venue to go see a show at.
The show that is featured on the marquee is Jersey Boys, this is a fantastic musical, if you ever get the chance to catch this show you should.

The Original Starbucks
Well sort of, the original location was moved in 1976 to this location and has been here ever since. Now a days this seems like its more for selling souvenir mugs and cups, they have tons of boxes in the store full of them. They do sell coffee as well and I got one just to say I got coffee at the original Starbucks.
This was quite the effort to get this shot, I was interested in getting the store front shot but there was always people in it, which would not have been so bad but there was so many people you could not really see much of the store. So I ended up having a late dinner in the area and decided to bring my tripod and camera so that I could stop by, worked out great. I got back to the hotel to upload everything to my computer and all the images on the card were gone. So I left the hotel made the 15 minute walk down here and reshot everything. Got back to the hotel and some of the images were corrupt, apparently I have a failing memory card, but luckily I had enough images to work with, I don't think I would have gone back a third time.

Pike's Place In B&W
This is a shot of the entrance to the Pike's Place Market in Seattle Washington. I converted it to black and white and then added a little color back in around the neon sign.
Pike's Place is a really historic huge farmers market, with some great produce, fish, restaurants, and street performers, the first Starbucks is here as well. Definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Hawaiian Sunset Dancer
This is a rework of an old image that we had. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and after multiple airline delays we finally made it to the island and checked in just before sunset. When we made our way out to the beach the sun was starting to set and this lady came out and started dancing, it was a very nice way to start the vacation after such a long trip over.

Carousel Fine Candies
This is a shot of a few shops at Old Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey California. I shot this a few years ago on a photowalk with Trey Ratcliff from Stuck In Customs. Normally I am not a fan of shots like this with people walking around, but in this instance I think it works for the shot.

Disney Main Street Cinema
This is a shot of the Disneyland Main Street Cinema. Last time I was at the park people seemed to unconsciously gravatite to my camera while it was on the tripod shooting. This time around it was better except for this shot.
People were still making their way out of the park so I would fire off a few brackets, then pause let the people pass then do the next bracket. Well as I was waiting to shoot this one of the girls walking out came running to my camera and started posing for awhile, it was kind of funny considering the camera was not recording at that moment.
Anyways this is the Main Street Cinema, most of the time you can walk in here and nobody is in here, which can be nice on a busy day here, not only that you can catch some of the old cartoons that pretty much started the Disney empire.

Here are a couple of pictures of Carthay Circle restaurant inside Disney California Adventure. I did not have much time to shoot this place without people before security moved me along, so I was not able to try any other angles.
I could not decide if I liked the color or the black and white version so I included both versions. I do think that the B&W is a little more true to the scene since this is supposed to be a replica of the movie theatre that Snow White first premiered.
If you are here try the restaurant, it's a little pricey but the food is pretty good. They also have a very nice bar on the bottom floor, great for hanging out and getting a nice drink while in the park.

Bridge To Sunset
This is a sunset shot from Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Along the beach there are these walkways that go to the ocean. Makes a perfect place to watch sunsets, and setup to take pictures. Though it was a little hard to setup the tripod because the walkway is narrow and people were walking around.

Cars Land
This is a shot of Cars Land at Disneyland. This was shot after closing and during the World of Color so the street was pretty empty.
The new land is really something, you really feel like your walking around in the world of Cars. Although the rides are just ok, the experience of the land is great. Also the detail at night with all the neon on the street is fantastic.

Disneyland Partners After Closing
This is a shot of the Disneyland Partners Statue after the park had closed down. I was not happy with the shot I did a couple of years ago because I could not setup very well since there was still a lot of people in the park. This time the setup was a whole lot easier since the park had been closed for about an hour. I did still have to wait for a few stragglers in front of the castle but that didn't take too long.

This is an HDR of the Star of The Sea Painted Chruch on the Big Island of Hawaii. The paintings tell a story of Father Daimen who cared for Hawaii's leprosy community in the 1800's he eventally caught the disease and died of it.
This church was also moved in 1990 from it's original location because of of a volcano eruption to prevent the lava from ruining it.

This is an HDR of the back side of the San Francisco Ferry Building, it was then converted to black and white.
I was barley able to get this shot, apparently the pier I shot this from closes at a certain time, I was in the middle of my shots and security was hurrying me up, and of course being night the exposures were taking awhile. I was able to stall enough to get all the shots that I wanted to get.

Bay Bridge Lights
This is a HDR image of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, with an art project lighting up the cables that connect the towers. This is a project that will go on for two years, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Bay Bridge. The cost of the project was 8 million dollars all funded by the artist, and the lights during the span are never supposed to repeat their pattern.
I got lucky to get this shot, on the night I went up there, there was a world wide darkness, I don't recall what the occasion was but even Las Vegas was dark. So when I arrived here the lights were not running so I didn't think I would get the shot. I stopped in for a bite to eat, and by the time I came out the lights were on.

This is my first memory of Disneyland, as a kid we my family made their way out here for the first time, and after a 8 hour car ride the day before, I could not be more excited to arrive and start with all the fun. My Dad however had us go here first which was torture, who wants to see some history as a kid at Disneyland? Well now that I am older I have an appreciation for history, especially presidential history, I have come to enjoy this attraction.

Closing Time At Flo's V8 Cafe
This is an HDR image of Flo's V8 Cafe in Disneyland California Adventure. This is part of the new Cars Land expansion that they created. Disney Grizzly River Run Mill
This is an HDR image of the mill at the Grizzly River Run ride at Disneylands California Adventure. This is a nice shot to get, interesting and being that it's set out in water you don't have to worry about anyone walking into your frame. Amazing how Disney makes such subtle details that unless you pay attention you might miss, the rock formation in the right hand side if you look is in the formation of a Grizzly Bear.

Disneyland City Hall
This is an HDR image of City Hall at the Disneyland Resort. One of the first things you see walking in and one of the last things you see leaving.
This was the first time we got to shoot the park after closing, and what an experience it was, seeing main street completely empty was something else. The security was very nice as well at this point the park had been closed for an hour and a half and they finally told me it was the last shot it was time to leave because we were the last guests in the park. Another one who had been earlier asking me about the photos asked how much longer we would be. When I told him we had been told to leave he apologized.

Sleeping Beauty Castle Two Looks
Here are a couple of shots of the the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. They are both 3 shot HDR images, the second one we converted to infrared. I'm not really sure which one is better so that is why I'm posting both.
This was taken just before a fireworks show for the evening so the castle was roped off so nobody could walk in. The cast members were nice enough to let me get close to get this shot. So it was a great chance to get a shot of the castle with nobody in the shot.

Paradise Pier Disneyland
This is a 3 shot HDR image of Paradise Pier at Disneyland's California Adventure.
Taking up photography as a hobby you really seem to notice more that you would otherwise miss. Like this shot for example, I have been to the park a few times before but I never had caught this view. It's because I was searching out locations I got to see this hidden little area. It is in an area as well that unless you ride a specific ride you might completely miss this.
