Things We Like

Here are some things that we like, we will update this page as we come across other things.

Cameras:

Canon Rebel XS - This is a very good entry level DSLR. Fairly light weight but still durable, the pricing is 400-500 dollars, so it's not a huge investment to start in the world of DSLR's. Though a few key things are missing such as spot metering, it is still a very great entry level DSLR.

Canon 60d - This is a great mid level DSLR. We just recently got one. Some great features of it rotatable screen, the screen is also 3 inches and makes it really easy to see your photos after you take them. The performance is really great even at high ISO's definitely worth picking up if you are more serious about your photography.

Software:

Adobe Photoshop CS5 - There are so many things that you can do with Photoshop to enhance your photos, and there really is nothing out there that can match it.Since there is so much you can do with the program it is a pretty steep learning curve, but very rewarding with what you can turn out.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 - A great alternative to Photoshop. This is a product also put out by Adobe, some might call it Photoshop Light. This has a lot of the useful functions that Photoshop has if you are just a casual photographer and want to touch up your pictures, or if you just want to see if Photoshop is for you, it is a lot cheaper alternative.

Adobe Lightroom 3 - Another good product put out by Adobe. This program will probably become more useful to you when you have a lot of pictures, it is a great organizer. It is also capable of doing some photo editing work as well.

Websites

SmugMug - SmugMug is a great website if you want to show off your photos. They have three levels of service, basic, power and pro ranging from 40 to 150 dollars a year. With the pro account you can sell your photos at the pricing you want, and they take care of all the shipping of the orders. One of the things we really love though is how easy it is to customize the website you get, and they have lots of FAQ's and message boards that can answer just about any question you have about how to customize your website the way you want.

We are not web page programmers by any means, but with all the help they provide this is what we were able to create, http://www.stoutandstout.com/ . Also if you sign up through the link here you get $5 off of your subscription for the first year.
