The Water Falls of The Mirage

This is a HDR image of the water falls at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are so many interesting places to take pictures of in Las Vegas, you really could spend a few weeks walking up and down the strip trying to hunt out new things. Behind this waterfall is a volcano that shoots off most nights. We did not have a chance to shoot that, maybe next time.

San Francisco in B&W

This is a 3 shot HDR image of Pier 7 in San Francisco, CA, we then converted it to B&W.

We spent a couple of nights in San Francisco back in March and the days and nights were very nice, and very clear. We have done a couple of shots of this Pier before but there are so many different things you can do in post process. There is so many lights on the dock it casts a bit of a yellow on the scene, so switching it to B&W we felt really takes that a way and gives the beauty of the scene.

Fort Point From Above

This is a 3 shot HDR image of Fort Point in San Francisco, California. This was shot from above on the Golden Gate Bridge. It is really quite fun to go over the Golden Gate Bridge, you can walk or if you prefer many places around Fisherman's Wharf offer bike rentals to bike across the bridge. On clear days you get nice views of the downtown skyline.

Like A Rolling Stone...

This is an HDR shot that was taken at the Hollywood and Highland Mall in Los Angeles, California. It was then converted to black and white via Silver Efex 2.

This is one of those shots you get lucky to stumble upon. We were walking around the mall, which has many great picture ops, so make sure you stop by if you are in the area. We walked out to this ad that was posted by Rolling Stone, which in itself was very interesting. Right in front of the ad was someone who was smoking, the pose, the dress all seemed to go with the style of the magazine.

Picture in Picture

This is a 3 shot HDR image of the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California. As we were there taking the photo we noticed someone painting, so we moved in behind him to take a look at the painting. As you can see he did a fantastic job of it.

Venetian Canal

h

This is a 3 shot HDR image of a canal in the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. This canal runs through the mall that is inside the casino. On the left of the picture you can see a white boat, this is a gondola that is used for people that would like to get married in the casino. They also have some regular gondolas you can take a ride in, and the paddler will sing to you, fun stuff.

Start Spreading The News....

I'm leaving for... Vegas today.

Yes that is not how the song goes and this, and this is not New York either. Rather it's the New York, New York Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. This is a 3 shot HDR image of it. Las Vegas is such a great place for HDR, especially at night for scenes like this. The evening was a very nice evening to shot this as well, not to hot or cold.

This image was shot from the MGM Grand, there is a little platform that does not really lead anywhere and it was the perfect location to shoot this.

Come and Play

This is a 3 shot HDR image of a room that was setup in the casino floor of the MGM Grand, for a baccarat tournament. The room was very colorful and we figured it would come out well in HDR.

The Painted Ladies

This is a 3 shot HDR image of the San Francisco Painted Ladies, also known as Postcard Row. One of the most popular area's in San Francisco to take pictures of. This was shot from Alamo Square, a park across the street.

These houses are also famous from a T.V. show. If you remember the old show Full House, the opening credit shot when the family is playing in the park, with the houses in the background. This is that park!!

Vegas Nights

This is a 3 shot HDR image of the Eiffel tower at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada. This wash shot across the street from the Belliago Hotel and Casino. We wanted to capture the full tower as well as the traffic across the street. The long exposure makes a nice light trail at the bottom of the tower.

Aloha Tower

This is HDR shot of the Aloha Tower in Honolulu Hawaii, from what we heard it's comparable to a symbol like the statue of liberty, but the Western version. They allow you to go to the top of the tower, and from there you have fantastic 360 degree views of Honolulu. If you are ever in the area check it out.

Fight Night In Vegas

This is a 3 shot HDR image of a boxing ring that was setup inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas to promote an upcoming boxing match. The match will be between Manny Pacquiao and Sugar Shane Mosley, should be a good fight.

This boxing ring was a popular place for people to stop by and take pictures, some people even hopped in the ring and had to be chased off by security!! In order to get this shot with no one in front of the ring I waited ready to shot as soon as a group of women left. Once they left I fired off about 12 shots in a row, this was about the only time when no one was in front of the ring. So make sure on your shots you have a lot of patience, and be ready to shoot when you do. I had to wait about a half an hour to get this shot.

Pier 39 From Above

This is a 3 shot HDR of Pier 39 in the foreground, and Angel Island and Alcatraz in the background. This was shot from the top of Coit Tower, which really gives you great 360 degree views of the city. The windows can be a problem when you try to take a shot, but good positioning and processing can get you really nice photos.

View of Monterey Bay Part 2

This is actually the same image from yesterday, from a photowalk that Trey Ratcliff from Stuck In Customs conducted. The only difference in this one is it was converted to infrared. We personally like the color version, but people on Flickr seem to think the Infrared one is better. What do you think?

View Of Monterey Bay

This is a 3 shot HDR image of a beach in Monterey, this is just behind Cannery Row. The photo was taken while on a photowalk with Trey Ratcliff from Stuck In Customs .

The sky was a little plain that night so we replaced it from a sky in Hawaii. This was a really nice angle we feel, the painting on the wall looks as if it is ready to come off the wall and go sailing in the water.

Sun Yet Sen Temple

This is a 3 shot HDR of a Sun Yet Sen Temple in a park in our area. A little from the web about Sun Yet Sen.

Sun is frequently referred to as the founding father of Republican China, a
view agreed upon by both the People's Republic of China and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Sun played an instrumental role in inspiring the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty, the last
imperial dynasty of China.

Sailling In San Francisco

This is a 3 shot HDR and converted to black and white, and textures were added. This was shot on the boat coming back from Alcatraz. Kind makes you think what the prisoners thought when they were seeing stuff like this on their way to freedom.

It was such a nice day on the bay, but the shot was coming out very bland in coloring so we changed over to black and white and it really made the photo look nice.

Lake Reflections

This is a three shot HDR image of a lake at a park near our home. This lake really is not all that interesting, in fact we didn't think much of it when we took the shots. But when we got around to giving the shots the HDR treatment the scene came out a lot prettier then we thought it would.

A very good lesson, if you see something that catches your eye take the shot and don't debate if you should take it or not. If your using a digital camera your not wasting any film so why not? You never know the shot may come out better then you hope for.

The Icon

Probably one of the most recognizable landmarks in San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge. This is a 3 shot HDR image of the bridge.

The HDR really brought out the red in the bridge, when you are there you really see this kind of a red on the bridge. When you see the bridge in person it is really something, and you can get super close to the bridge as well. Fort Point is right under the bridge on the San Francisco side. On the top level of the fort you really feel like you can reach out and touch the bottom of the bridge.

If you are ever around San Francisco make sure you make some time to see this beautiful bridge.

Mine, Mine, Mine

Sorry we could not resisit the title on this one (in case you are not familer, it's from the seagulls in Finding Nemo). That's what really came to mind with this guy here, he looks like if you mess with him you would be sorry, espically if there is some food aroud.

This is a 3 shot HDR shot on Alcatraz in San Francisco California. Notice how the HDR brings out the feathers really well on the seagull.
